Over the last couple weeks I have been very musically involved. Nearly every day I was either playing or listening to a concert. And when I wasn’t doing one of those, I found time to practice drums and/or keyboard most days as well.
Monday, Nov. 3rd – jazz jam session at the Kuckucksnest in Aachen. I played on several songs. I always find it amazing how complete strangers can get together and instantly make music
Tuesday, Nov. 4th – big band practice at the Gymnasium (played some drums and some piano)
Wednesday, Nov. 5th – RWTH big band and Soundbridge big bands played at St. Lucia in Würselen. Both were very impressive. Soundbridge tackled a Snarky Puppy song, which is very challenging.
Thursday, Nov. 6th – Vice Rock practice, this time at Birte’s house. I played on her electronic drum set, which I did not enjoy at all.
Sunday, Nov. 9th – Marcus Miller with my friend Birte in Eindhoven. We opted to stand instead of sit, which was a great choice. A really fantastic band, which played funky and jazzy music.
Thursday, Nov. 13th – Steve Gadd and Billy Cobham at Leverkusener Jazztage. Both of these famous drummers are over 80 years old, yet still rocking out. Billy Cobham can hardly walk, yet when he sits down at the drums, is still a monster.
Friday, Nov 14th – Vice Rock practice.
Saturday, Nov 15th – Wally and the WaWas at Cafe Einstein in Aachen.
