I have continued to spend a good portion of my weekends walking and exploring. Three weeks ago I decided to try to walk all the way around nearby Standley Lake. I discovered it is not possible to do so on trails, because a large portion of the area is a bald eagle breeding ground reserve. So instead I walked along the south coast until I got to Kipling street. At that point, I decided to head south and return home on the Little Dry Creek Trail. As you can see from the photos, it was cold, several degrees below freezing, with some light snowfall from the day before, but it was sunny and I wore several layers, so I was not cold.

Two weeks ago, I decided to try to walking around the north side of the lake. I discovered that the bald eagle reserve is quite big. One has to walk quite some time on the roads around the park, before one can actually go into the park. In other words, the south side of the lake is much more scenic. Nevertheless, it was still a nice walk. Once again, once I got to Kipling, I decided to head back home on the Little Dry Creek trail, except I stopped at the library to use the bathroom and get a drink of water. All the snow and ice was gone this time and it was quite warm. I saw quite a few other people out walking, biking, and jogging.
